The Mountain Club of South Africa (MCSA) offers climbing, mountaineering and hiking opportunities to its members and is involved in mountain search and rescue, training, conservation of mountain areas, procurement of access for mountaineering, and competition climbing.

The Club consists of 14 Sections geographically distributed. Contact the section nearest to you to join in activities.

Frequently asked questions

What are the requirements for becoming a section of the Mountain Club?
Constitutionally a few requirements including autonomous, constitution and being similarly minded.

Can Hiking clubs be affiliated to the Mountain Club without becoming a full-fledged section?
There is no provision for such at this stage, but watch this space.

What are the benefits of belonging to the Club as a Section?
Probably the biggest is sharing of resources. Being able to speak with one voice to government and lobby for changes. International opportunities through the UIAA and of course drawing on 100years of experience.
