"When we reach the mountain summits we leave behind all the things that weigh heavily on our body and our spirit. We leave behind all sense of depression; we feel a new freedom, a great exhilaration of the body no less than the spirit."

The Central Committee (or Cencom) of MCSA consists of the chairmen of the 14 sections plus an elected honorary president, secretary and treasurer. The Executive committee (or Exco), consists of the president, secretary, treasurer and 3 of the chairs, one who serves as deputy president.

Cencom serves to co-ordinate activities between the sections and to undertake activities on behalf of the Club where it is more viable to do these at a central level, than locally.

Cencom meets bi-annually, usually in Cape Town where matters of national interest are discussed.

The MCSA is usually represented by the president at the UIAA annual meetings held worldwide.
