Events
Each year the MCSA organises or hosts a number of national events. These include the Banff Film Festival, Guests Speakers that present lectures around the country, International Meets (for foreigners and local climbers) and National Meets, the Annual Dinner and Annual Memorial Service.
Annual
Memorial Service
Since
after the Second World War, an Annual Memorial Service had been held at
Maclear's Beacon, the highest point on Table Mountain. During the service,
the names of members who died during the past year are read. This event
takes place at the end of February and is attended by up to 200 people
each year (attendance depends on the weather!).
