SA Mountain Leadership Guide

The South African Mountain Leadership Guide is published by the Magaliesberg Section. The aim of this guide is to promote the safe enjoyment of the South African outdoors. It is intended for use by the expert and novice alike. It covers camping equipment, camp craft, hiking skills, route planning, map reading and navigation, mountain weather and hazards, mountaineering first aid and emergency procedures and even outdoor cooking.

The book has been reviewed in Out There Magazine of March 1996: "This publication draws upon the European experience, but is very much a South African production, it is the sum total of a large number of local mountaineers' experiences, immensely practical and full of sound, sensible advice...the approach is down to earth and is carefully thought out...This unpretentious book is a gold mine of information for all hikers and climbers and a 'must have' for parents, teachers and anyone else leading hiking groups in the mountains".
